Nicholas was born a bastard, his mother being a hooker whilst his father was some high ranked buisness man. His father, of course, did not want people to know of Nicholas or his relationship with the hooker, thus, he refused to help the hooker with their son. As she was unable to care for him, she disbanded Nicholas by the brim of a forest. Hoping he'd die or get picked up by some heartwarm stranger. In which he did. Her name was Abigail, she was a nun from a closeby church and cared for him quite a while. Babies were always accepted, and it was there he got his name. Though once he got of age, in where he first shifted to his Parfox, most of the other nuns including the priest deemed him a demon. Yet, Abigail didn't. She knew of the supernatural world, of its relationship to their world and how they got treated most places.
Growth
Abigail made him shift into his Parfox again, and told him to stay like that untill he got to a place where his kind were allowed. Once he shifted, she put him into a box and brought him out to the street, where she sold him as a pet to a decent looking family. It was a family of four, two middleage parents of opposite sex, one teenage son and a young daughter. They lived at a distant farm, and their economy substained from selling milk and wheat. Nicholas lived a good life at the farm, atleast a life good enough for a pet. They fed him well using scraps from their dinner, played with him often and kept him stimulated. He memorised different words and meanings as they talked with eachother, and kept a open ear towards their teenage son's education. They never suspected him to be more than just a pet, so he got acess to a lot of places.
There were moments where his love for this family's members grew, especially towards their daughter, Kenna. She was his best playmate, and they weren't too many years apart. She often brought him up to the lands around the barn, teaching him tricks like a dog such as agillity courses and the basic sit and lay. There were no problems for him to follow her orders, as he pretty much understood what she wanted during a few seconds. She just took it as if he just learned such things easily. Kenna also told him her secrets and feelings, as if he was her personal diary. He didn't mind, his role and life as a pet could become bland. So getting a few stories and insights from the outside world was always fun.
Of course, he weren't always around Kenna. The family's teenage son tended to bring him with him a few times too. It was more rough play from him though, and sometimes, he really did scare Nicholas. Yet, he had no hard feelings towards him. As he also used to tell him whatever it was that bothered him. Nicholas had the normal role of a pet, a creature people could talk to and assume it would listen and understand, whilst it couldn't talk back at them.
Exposal
However, all good things has to end at some point. It was a sunny day and Kenna had brought Nicholas up to the barnsite. He had become older, in his young teenage years, and they were playing a game of tag around the barn. He had ran into the barn, and was waiting for Kenna to reach his spot. Nicholas always felt secure around Kenna, as if she really understood him. One time, she had even joked about him having a human form in secret. Since he was so intelligent and understanding. Though he knew she didn't really mean it, it still made him think 'what if'. Would she accept that she was right? That he had a human form? He thought so, which was the exact reason why he had begged her this morning to take him outside and play. That he had lead her up to the barn, encouraged her to start a game of tag, and planned the spot of where he'd show his true self. He was now only waiting for her to show up, for her to see him before he changed to his seldomly used human body. For he had been practising it in secret whilst the family slept, knowing if he kept himself in his Parfox shape, that he'd forget about his humanity.
Kenna stood by the doorway of the barn with a bent back and palms upon her knees, panting in exchaustment with a calm yet playful smile on her lips. Her warm, olive skin contrasting with her curly ebony black hair, which had slightly escaped from the bun she had made. Her hazelnut brown eyes glinting with excitement as they had caught her adorable colourful and small prey. She was only a year or two older than Nicholas and to him, she was always as beautiful. It was also moments like these, that he could just remain staring at her. As if it would make the moment last longer.
It was time to take the matter in his paws, sending her a joyful look, before backing up a bit behind one of the barn's horse containers. There he would shift, his bones lightly snapping and shaping into the ones of a human teenage boy. His naturally colourful hair flowing down to his pale shoulders, faded yet visibly contoured muscles on his body, whilst his eyes kept the bright, wild, limegreen colour. Standing from the side, his private parts hidden by the container, he'd glance at Kenna. A serious look at first, as if to judge her reaction, before smiling warmly. Assuming that she would get happy about this, her best friend being somewhat the same specie as herself.
Escape
He was wrong. So wrong. Instead of joy, Kenna reacted first with fear, then anger and disgust. She yelled at him, claiming that he had been a sick perverted thief living off of her family's wealth. A monster, not deserving to know her private secrets and feelings. All of their moments shattered to pieces, that she had only joked about her hope of him being human. These words felt like knives, repeadingly stabbing into his young heart. His previously joy becoming dissapointment and sorrow, he hid himself. Looking away from his previous best friend and crush. She told him to piss off, to leave and never ever return. In which was what he did, shifting back to his Parfox on the split second before bolting off. Heartbroken, he'd continue running untill his paws couldn't carry him anymore, passing out on the roadside.
The scent of roasted food filled his nostrills, Nicholas opened his eyes. His sight blurry from both the stress and sorrow, his Parfox form could not cry, but his vision was still affected by his feelings. Blinking a few times, he'd glance around. His eyes catching the form of a elderly woman, sitting not too far away from him with a plate of food in her handwhich was reached towards him. The source of the scent that had awoken him. She placed it on the floor, a smile placed upon her lips, although her eyes had a slight sadness in them. Nicholas noticed this, but he didn't want to shift infront of her, both because of the fact that he owned no clothes and because he didn't feel like talking. So he ate in silence, glancing up at the woman occasionaly. It was only after he had finished his meal, after the woman had picked up the plate and washed it, only to then return to her chair, that she spoke up.
Her name was Abigail, which sounded familiar to him. It was the same woman that had found him as a baby, but he didn't know that. He remembered a church and people dressed in black, a certain hum of a lullaby and this particular scent. Of course, Nicholas hadn't really bothered with picking up this woman's scent. But she told him about herself, about them both. How she had hoped for him to get a good life with that family, that she had hoped for him to forget about his humanity and remained a pet. Yet she both knew and guessed that he had exposed himself to one of them, and that she was glad it was someone peaceful. Otherwise she'd assume that they would of shot him. She also told him how she had left the church after giving Nicholas away. Abigail threw him a blanket and told him to shift back to his human form. In which he did, now that he had cover.
She gave him a quick course about how to behave around humans, it lasted for a week. He learnt how to talk to them. How to sit, eat and drink. How their money system worked. How to refer to his supriors, titles. Society and she also taught him to look out for his own kind. Their signs, that he might be able to pick up their scent. That he should follow them if he did find them, as their society would fit him more than a humans. Nicholas weren't able to memorise the details, but he learnt enough for him to go out into the world. Not wishing to live off of his adoptive mother, not that she could afford that anyway.
Growing up
As the years passed, Nicholas went through and experienced a good amount of sides of both the human and supernatural world. Both good and bad. He earned his piercings and haircut during that time. As most supernatural beings, he also favored the darker side of society. Clubs and alcohol to be specific. He earned money by taking up on small jobs, earning just about enough for a weekend of partying with his friends. He lived at a tiny, dirty apartment within a huge city. Not that it mattered, as he only used it as a place to sleep.
His abnormal specie was something most people admired, both open minded humans and supernaturals. Sure there were enough of fox shifters, but no one obtained a coat such as his. Nor his abillity to sing in both forms, and he was quite good at it as well. It earned him some extra money from time to time. Being young, he also tended to sell his body for a night. It gave him quite a amount of cash, especially as he was able to fool a few customers of his. Yet he had no pimp, and he was often chased out of obtained terretories. So it weren't something he could live off.
Years passed by and eventually Nicholas left the city. Grown both tired and a bad reputation in it, making it unsafe for him to stay. Thus he wandered off to a new place for a second chance. It took him a while, but soon enough, he reached Edgepool. He has yet to learn how its system work, what kind of people there are in it and to deem whether he wants to stay or not. That however, is another story that is yet to be developed.
